Dr. Irvin B. Sherman
Dr.
Sherman was born in Brooklyn, NY Completed HS at the McBurney School in
New York City. Dr. Sherman went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree
at the University of Louisville in 1967. He followed this program by
completing a Masters of Arts degree in Microbiochemistry at Hofstra
University in 1968. Dental School followed in 1972 at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Sherman received a MScD in Pediatric
Dentistry at the Boston University of Graduate Dentistry in 1974.
Today, Dr. Sherman maintains a private practice in pediatric dentistry in East Brunswick, NJ which he began in 1976.
Dr. Sherman's is involved in a number of professional societies and affiliations including the positions of Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry since 1979 and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry also since 1979. He is a member of the ADA, AAPD, ASDC, NJDA, NJSDC, NJAPD, AAHD, AADH, AAO, SCCA.
Serving the broader community, since 1976 Dr. Sherman
has been a member of the active
attending dental staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and
St. Peter’s Medical Center. In addition, he is Chief – Section of
Pediatric Dentistry at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Among academia he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the
Rutgers Medical School. He has held this position since 1980.
His leadership skills have been demonstrated in the positions of President of the New Jersey Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 1980, 1985 and 1990. In 1983 he served as President of the New Jersey Society of Dentistry for Children.
Presented a paper on treatment of handicapped children at the New Jersey State Dental Society meeting, 1970. Presented table clinic entitled "The Management of Handicapped Children in the Dental Office, 1979.
Dr. Sherman's hobby for the last 30 years has been auto racing, both on an amateur and professional level. He currently instructs for the SCCA and other auto clubs. He has recently added auto restoration to his interests, the most recent being a 1953 MG TD.
